If you’re on the internet even a little bit, then you know Jennifer Lopez has been spending time with Ben Affleck ever since she split from Alex Rodriguez. In case you forgot, Lopez and Affleck got engaged in November 2002 before going their separate ways in January 2004—so this reunion has been surprising, to say the least. People reported on May 10 the two recently took a trip to Montana after previously being linked in April.
“She had a great time with Ben,” a source told the outlet about the Montana trip. “She is happy with him and enjoys spending time with him.”
“[Jennifer] spent several days with Ben out of town. They have a strong connection. It’s all been quick and intense, but Jennifer is happy,” a separate insider told People of the exes.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, often referred to as “Bennifer,” were a media sensation when they dated in the early aughts. After their short-lived relationship, Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they split in 2017. Meanwhile, Lopez was married to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014.
Affleck has consistently spoken highly of Lopez, even years after their split. In a February 2020 New York Times interview, he commented on Lopez’s performance in Hustlers. “She should have been nominated,” he said. “She’s the real thing. I keep in touch periodically with her and have a lot of respect for her. How awesome is it that she had her biggest hit movie at 50? That’s fucking baller.”
Last month, he had equally great things to say about her during an InStyle interview. “I thought I had a good work ethic, but I was completely humbled and blown away by what she was committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts,” he said. “She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”
