IndiGo Q1 Review – Recovery Stalled By Covid-19 Air Pocket: Prabhudas Lilladher

Interglobe Aviation Ltd.’s Q1 losses widened sequentially as demand environment collapsed, due to second Covid-19 wave thereby impacting unit spreads.

Revenue per available seat kilometre declined by 16% q-o-q led by 11.4%/ 5.7% decline in passenger load factors/ yields, while 12% q-o-q rise in aviation turbine fuel prices coupled with unabsorbed costs on lower capacity led to 44% increase in cost of available seat kilometer.

However, with declining Covid-19 cases and rising vaccination counts instilling back consumer confidence, operations have started to pick up with IndiGo currently operating at 65% of pre-Covid capacity.
